Shannon Buchanan is a multidisciplany artist currently living in St. Petersburg, Florida. Most recently they have focused on digital illustration and photography, but their delight for experimentation and experience has led to a body of work that spans a wide variety of mediums and methodoligies.
Shannon's work is thoughtful and conceptual, addressing themes such as subjective experience, memory, disability, and one's relationship to self and body. She frequently makes use of materials that evoke such transient, uncertain territories, blurring the lines that seperate here from there, the seen from the unseen, and mental spheres from physical reality. By using surprising, novel, or even absurdist imagery it is her hope that those viewing and interacting with her work will consider their own mental spaces and, potentially, be drawn out of their own routine modes of experiencing the world around them.
